Christmas Close UpWednesday, December 15, 2010, The Glen hosted 175 children from the Eighty-First Street ECE Center for a wonderful Christmas Celebration. Santa & Mrs. Claus greeted the children and present each child with a gift. Following refreshments, the children sang Christmas carols for the residents at The Glen and then they exchanged hugs. Before leaving, each child received a stocking filled with goodies.

Research shows that interaction between the young and the elderly improves physical, mental, and emotional interaction for both groups as well as improving social development in children. This event is made possible through The Glen’s Community Outreach Program. Eighty-First Street Early Childhood Education Center has been part of The Glen’s Community Outreach Program since 2004. This is the third year that The Glen Retirement System has been awarded a grant by the Jess Merkle Foundation to help fund the event.
