Scholarships awarded to four Glen employees

Nursing students receive funds from Louisiana Long Term Care Foundation

Four nursing students employed at The Glen Retirement System will receive Louisiana Long Term Care Foundation scholarships. These scholarships support education and training to help improve the high quality of clinical care provided in Louisiana’s nursing facilities.

President and CEO Debra Williams said she is honored to have four Glen employees from the skilled-nursing area (Village Health Care) awarded LLTCF scholarships.

“These four individuals have proven their dedication to high quality health care,” Williams said. “We are proud to have them be apart of The Glen family. The Glen difference means that we are committed to provide the best services to local seniors and that commitment starts with our staff and employees.”

The following nursing students are Glen employees at Village Health Care and the recipients of the 2016 LLTCF scholarships:

  • Natasha Cabarubio, Village Health Care at the Glen, Shreveport
  • Bryan Counts, Village Health Care at the Glen, Shreveport
  • Brandi Ervin, Village Health Care at the Glen, Shreveport
  • Brittany Evans, Village Health Care at the Glen, Shreveport

“This year’s recipients displayed an exemplary amount of drive to achieve academic excellence and dedication to providing high-quality care to Louisiana’s elderly,” said Karen Miller, Director of the LLTCF. “The skills developed and learned will enable the recipients to advance in their careers in long term care and share these skills with other staff in their facilities.”

“The need for quality nursing staff in Louisiana’s long term care facilities is very critical,” said Joe Donchess, Executive Director of the Louisiana Nursing Home Association. “This scholarship provides a tangible boost to staff, helping them financially to complete the education required to reach their professional goals.”

The LLTCF provides annual scholarships to encourage nursing students of high academic and caregiving caliber to continue to pursue a career in the long-term care profession. This program is funded through the generosity of long term care providers and related organizations, supporting the Foundation’s mission to promote the development of a skilled and quality-centered workforce.
